Trumpet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trombone, baritone saxophone, acoustic guitar, piano, bass and drums. This is the instrumentation that the composer Daniel Maudonnet has assembled to record his first album. The most talented Brazilian musicians teamed up with the composer, arranger, pianist and educator Daniel Maudonnet to perform on the Pescador album.
It was recorded at NaCena Studios in São Paulo, on July 2012. Daniel Maudonnet and Michael Ruzitschka directed the album recording. Mr. Maudonnet composed and arranged all pieces in the album. The music explores both the Brazilian music rhythmic diversity and its harmonic sophistication, and it balances improvisation sections with written melodies and countermelodies in pieces of medium and long duration.
The album walks through Brazilian rhythms such as choro, bossa nova, samba along with jazz improvisation. The Pescador album includes the samba Vai Que Eu Vou, the ballad Park Drive, the choro Charmosa, and the baião Arraial da Ventania. It also has Pescador Suite which is divided in three parts: Pescador, Valsa da Solidão, and the afoxé Mar Adentro.
This project was completed with the support of São Paulo State Government, the Culture Secretary - Programa de Ação Cultural and the VIVO sponsorship.
